PNC Park: Pittsburgh Pirates

 Sweater// Shorts (under $50)// Sandals

You'll read more about my Renaissance Pittsburgh stay later this week, but I wanted to write about the amazing Pirate game I got to attend. The Renaissance has amazing front row seats to PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirate's!

The park is just steps away from the hotel and the park is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world. It offers sweeping views of the city! Not to mention, in the last few years, the Pirates have been pretty good!

I had never sat front row for a baseball game before so this was a real treat! We were so close to the players and during the pierogie race, JalapeƱo Hannah gave me a high five (only Pittsburghers will understand that last sentence, haha!).

The park not only has incredible views, but offers a lot of delicious food options. It's not your typical just hot dogs and nachos deal. They offer some of the best 'Pittsburgh' foods. BRGR is what I had. They offer some of my favorite burgers in the city, not to mention, their milkshakes are the absolute best. They have other things like Mrs. T's pierogies (Pittsburghers love their Pierogies) and of course, they have Primanti's! Have a fabulous day!

The Perfect Summer Shorts

sweater// shorts (under $50!) // sunglasses
Teardrop bracelet// Kendra Scott Bracelet

I have been wearing these shorts on repeat. They are easily the most comfortable thing  in my closet. Not to mention, I find them so unique with the lace applique for the hem. The icing on the cake? They're under $50!

I also love it paired with this sweater. It makes for a super comfortable, laid back summer outfit, but also looks nice and put together! I can't wait to wear this as a swimsuit coverup with a flow tank on top! Have a fabulous day!

Picnic in South Park

island company gentlemen's shirt with L.L. Bean boat and tote

Island Company Linen Gentleman Shirt c/o// White Chino Shorts
Sunglasses// XL Monogram Tote
Jack Rogers Sandals// Margaret Elizabeth Cuffs

In Pittsburgh, there are two large park areas: North Park and South Park. As their name's suggest, one is north of the city and one is south. There are tons of spacious grassy areas, park benches, bike and walking trails, jungle gyms for children, ice cream trucks, clubhouses for parties and even some ponds/small lakes.

They are gorgeous areas and very well kept. In the summer they're popular for everyone in the city to get out and enjoy the outdoors. My sister, Callie, and I love to have picnics at South Park. We take Mac, and bring all sorts of delicious snacks like fruit, cheese, meats, french baguettes, olives, etc. It's fun to lounge and chat and Mac enjoys it, too!

We snapped some photos while we were there one day enjoying a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I use this XL L.L. Bean tote to carry everything from a blanket to our food! It holds so much. It was super hot that afternoon (hence me wearing my hair atop my head) so a linen shirt from Island Company and chino shorts were comfortable and kept me cool! If you are in Pittsburgh have you visited either North or South Park? Have a fabulous day!

Giveaway: Renaissance Pittsburgh Tickets

I've been staying at the Renaissance Pittsburgh this week and it has been so much fun! The Renaissance is right in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh and the perfect location for anything and everything Pittsburgh... not to mention, I'm just steps away from my office which is a major perk in the mornings! I'll have more of a recap to come, but I wanted to share an awesome giveaway for those who read from Pittsburgh!

The Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel will celebrate the fourth annual global "Day of Discovery", which will take place simultaneously at 160 Renaissance Hotels around the world. The theme chosen by the Renaissance Pittsburgh is the Day of DISCOvery, with the return of the disco nightclub, Heaven, that once resided in the hotel's lobby and ruled the city.

The event is being held on Thursday June 11, 2015 and guests are invited to party and dance from 7-11:30pm.

This event is sold out, but the Renaissance has generously given me two tickets to giveaway to a local Pittsburgher! I will be at the event and can't wait! Dancing  and cocktails is my kind of party!  To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment letting me know your e-mail address to contact you should you win. The winner will be chosen and contacted on Monday June 1st! Good luck!

Ivory + Black with a Cape

ellsworth and ivey cape with two bees cashmere sweater

club monaco leather leggings and valentino bow pumps

Ellsworth and Ivey Cape// Two Bees Cashmere Sweater
Silk Shirt// Leather Leggings// Bow Peep toe Pumps
Sunglasses// Margaret Elizabeth Cuff// Kendra Scott Bracelet
Last week, to kick off Memorial Day weekend, I went to the TEDxPittsburgh rehearsal dinner. It was where all of the speakers gathered, did one last round of their talks before showtime and we all had a lovely dinner together.

I thought a dress might have been appropriate but the high for the day was unfortunately only 60 degrees. I had just received this gorgeous cape from Ellsworth and Ivey and this beautiful cashmere cable knit from Two Bees cashmere and knew they would be the perfect combination for the evening.

The look was still dressed up but kept me warm, too. I added the leather leggings, which is kind of an odd thing for this time of year, but the location of the dinner was in Pittsburgh's Strip District, which has a more trendy, artsy vibe, so I knew I could get away with them there!

While some people are not cape-wearers, I will forever be a fan of the cape. I love the way they drape and I truly think they are a piece that elevates any outfit. I love the chic, ladylike vibe of this cape, no doubt! Have a fabulous day!

Pale Pink Shirtdress

pink shirtdress// wedges// sunglasses
cable bracelet 7mm and 4mm// bag (old, similar

I got this shirt dress a few weeks ago as a summer wear-to-work option. I've already worn it several times and received a lot of compliments. It's easy and breezy for the hottest of summer days, but also looks polished and professional enough for my office. Not to mention, it was a great option to wear for Mother's Day dinner! The wedges I am wearing are super comfortable and neutral; and also perfect for work and play.

I'm all abut versatile pieces that can be worn for work and play and this is most definitely one of them. Have a fabulous day!

Help Me Choose: Illesteva Sunglasses

Usually, I'm pretty good at making decisions. But for the life of me, I cannot decide which pair of the Leonard sunglasses to get. They're moderately priced... comparable to Ray-Ban, which is nice. I don't buy too many pairs of sunglasses because I tend to favor just the classic gold/green Ray-Ban aviators, but these tortoise sunglasses with the mirrored lenses still have some classic aspects, with an added cool-girl vibe from the mirrored lens.

So which would you pick?! I'm torn! Check out some of the other Memorial day sales, here. While getting a day off of work, shopping sales and enjoying the sun is all fabulous, it is also important to remember why this weekend is a holiday. It's to pay homage to those who have died while serving in our country's armed forces. It's because of them that we can enjoy this extra day off from work safely in this country! Have a fabulous day!

Saturday Shopping

I've been doing lots of browsing lately and picked up a few new pieces I can't wait to share on Summer Wind. I've been really trying not to buy much lately and only buy the 'perfect' wardrobe pieces. By perfect, I mean neutral, classic pieces that will withstand the test of time.
My summer wardrobe is very resort/vacation oriented in that I have a lot of Lilly Pulitzer shift dresses, J. Crew chino shorts, Jack Rogers, Shep Shirts, etc. I've been working on refreshing my wardrobe by adding in some work appropriate, more dressed up and more sophisticated pieces.

While I am luckily able to wear things like Lilly shifts and Jack Rogers to work, it sometimes feels out of place.... especially when I head to post-work happy hours! I've included some things I have had my eye on, but also included my favorite Lilly shift and this new pair of weekend wear denim shorts that I have seen on many bloggers and love the laid back casual vibe they have! Also be sure to check out yesterday's post about all of the Memorial Day sales happening this weekend. Have you been loving anything lately? Have a fabulous day!

Memorial Day 2015: Sale Roundup

This image is from last Memorial Day weekend when my friend Eugenia was home for the weekend and we enjoyed champagne by her pool!

This holiday weekend, I took off today from work and plan to get a lot done during the day, and then at night, I have a rehearsal dinner for TEDxPittsburgh! The Ted talks are the next day so I will be super busy on Saturday but am very excited. Everyone has been working so hard on making this happen for months and months. It's the first board I've been on as an 'adult'. It's amazing to see so many creative and talented people come together... not to mention, everyone has full time jobs on top of this commitment!  If you are in the Pittsburgh area and want to attend, you can buy tickets, here
Sunday and Monday I plan on going to our club and catching up with friends and family. I'm hoping I'll be able to spend time by the pool and get a start on my tan and also be able to catch up on some sleep!

Monday night I am so excited to be enjoying a staycation thanks to the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh! I have never stayed before, but am staying three nights to check out everything it has to offer. I've heard such great things about the hotel! I'm also super pumped that it's only a few blocks from my office so I'll get to walk to work each day! Follow along with me on Snapchat and Instagram to see my weekend adventures: SummerWind41490.
Besides my concrete plans, I definitely plan on doing some online shopping. As we are entering into the holiday weekend (woo!), we are greeted by tons of sales (double woo!). Like I have mentioned in previous blog posts, I'm working hard on transitioning my closet full of preppy resortwear to more practical staples for a 20-something professional. I still want to stay true to my style, but just want to update it a bit!

Here's the shortlist:
Amazon// Talbots// Nordstrom// Club Monaco
Lilly Pulitzer // Banana Republic// Ralph Lauren
Revolve// Equipment // Boden
Saks// Anthropologie// J. Crew// Ann Taylor

And here's the wordy list:
Right now, Amazon is offering 20% off on 'fashion' products by using the code FUN20SUN. I usually don't buy clothes/shoes on Amazon as Nordstrom is my go-to, but 20% is a major bonus and enough to get me to convert to Amazon for a weekend (umm hellooo glitter bow flip flops... perfect as pool sandals!). I'm specifically looking at a lot of their travel/luggage pieces as I have a few weeks in Europe in the planning stages for spring 2016 (I'm thinking this foldable duffel may come in handy)!
Talbots, a personal favorite of mine is offering an extra 40% off of one item and 50% off two or more items. These prices honestly cannot be beat. I'm obsessed with these suede tassel shoes

Nordstrom is also having their Half Yearly Sale which extends through 5/31. You can see up to 40% markdowns, so it's worth checking it out.. but remember not to splurge too much because the Anniversary sale is coming soon (July!). I think that these Hunter boots are a great deal, I really like these Kate Spade wedges in pink and these neutral wedges would be a great summer shoe staple.
Club Monaco is offering an extra 30% off sale and clearance. Club Monaco is the best. I just ordered this cozy cashmere sweater and am awaiting its arrival!

Lilly Pulitzer, a personal favorite, has a ton of new arrivals. This weekend, they will have a free gift with purchase promotion. I really want this in the new sky blue print!
Banana Republic is offering 40% off full priced items using code BRSUMMER. Banana Republic has quickly become one of my favorites to frequent. Marissa Webb has done wonders for the company! I would like this easy breezy dress and this simple silk tunic

Ralph Lauren is offering up to 55% off. I want it all. RL never disappoints.

Revolve is up to 75% off. For me, Revolve is a black hole. I try to limit my browsing on this site because I always end up buying something! They have everything.

Equipment is 20% off. I usually don't buy directly from their site, but they are offering an extra 20% their sale items which they don't usually do! I love the powder pink and amparo blue colors of this blouse

Boden is 30% of your purchase as well as free shipping on orders over $49. I wish this came in adult sizes because it's the cutest!!!

Saks is up to 55% off. Saks always has some really nice sales. I usually shop Saks off season and score some great deals. This Roberta Roller Rabbit pareo is under $50. Winning.

20% off sale at Anthropologie. I used to not be a big Anthro shopper, but in the past year or so, I have found so many things I love (like this skirt).

25% off at J.Crew with code SUMMERLOVE.

Ann Taylor is offering 40% off your entire purchase. This sweater from this post is totally worth it.

While getting a day off of work, shopping sales and enjoying the sun is all fabulous, it is also important to remember why this weekend is a holiday. It's to pay homage to those who have died while serving in our country's armed forces. It's because of them that we can enjoy our long weekend safely in this country!

Hot Pink Dress under $50

Dress// Sandals // Wrap
Tassel Earrings// Sunglasses
Teardrop Bracelet// Kendra Scott Bracelet

I got this dress last spring and have gotten so many wears out of it. It is under $50! Every time I wear it, I always receive compliments. Not to mention it is super comfortable. I actually wear it to work a lot with a navy blazer.  This dress fits true to size and besides the traditional notch neck dress, they also have one with lace trim

I think besides the skater skirt and a-line shape, what I love most about the dress is the bright color. This color is BRIGHT! But it makes me so happy when I put it on, and I think it cheers others up, too! Since the dress is only in white and teal this year, I figured I would also include some of my favorite bright pink dresses and all are very affordable, most under $100!

Have a fabulous day!

Bateau Neckline (aka Boat Neck)

I love the cut of a bateau neckline. It's simple but feminine. I think it looks great on most women's frames and really dresses up anything!

I have a navy blue boat neck sleeveless top from Brooks Brothers (ps. they're having an amazing sale right now) that I got years ago. It's on its last leg, and for a few years now, I've been searching for a replacement. Surprisingly, boat necklines are hard to come by!

I've found two options at a great price that I thought I would share with you all! You can find a sleeveless version here and a sleeved version here! I am so glad I came across these and ordered both in several colors. They're a my idea of a 'dressed up' tee shirt. Have you found any boat neck tops lately? I'd love to know! Have a fabulous day!
